Webinar between Fraport Brasil, ANAC and Aeronáutica covered benefits and guidelines for using drones at airports
A handbook on the subject was launched this month and provides instructions on aviation equipment
A manual on the subject was launched this month and provides instructions on equipment in the aviation sector
A webinar between aviation authorities addressed the guidelines and benefits of using drones at airports, a technology that has brought important gains to the area. The conversation took place on Tuesday (30/09), and is still available on Porto Alegre Airport's YouTube channel.
The live brought together members of Fraport Brasil (administrator of Porto Alegre and Fortaleza international airports), the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Airspace Control Department (DECEA). The topic was the Manual on the Operation of Drones (UA) in Support of Airport Activities, launched this month by ANAC.
This is the first edition of the manual, an unprecedented material that brings together good practices and guidelines for the safe and efficient use of this technology in aerodromes. The equipment can be used in a variety of activities involving inspection, management, monitoring and image capture.
The manual also covers efficiency, sustainability and safety gains in activities such as inspecting runways, monitoring fauna, checking drainage, monitoring works and supporting operational safety. ANAC points out that, with the use of drones, tasks that previously required more time, ground crews and high costs can be carried out more quickly, accurately and with less environmental impact.
Fraport Brasil currently operates with three drones, purchased between 2019 and 2022. In 2023, the concessionaire's team in Porto Alegre was contacted by ANAC, inviting them to help prepare the recently launched manual
- Our conversation served to expand the dissemination of the manual on the use of drones in airport activities. With the presence of the main authorities in the area, we were able to explain very clearly the use of the device in various airport site management activities, runway and taxiway signaling, wildlife risk management and in the training area - says Fraport Brasil's Emergency and Security Director, Carlos Schmid Gonçalves.
In addition to Schmid, the conversation was attended by Fraport Brasil's Operational Safety Coordinator, Denis Eduardo Fedrizzi, 1st Lieutenant Ricardo, from the Canoas Airspace Control Detachment (DTCEA-CO) and ANAC's Civil Aviation Regulation specialist, Rodrigo Ortolá.
