The safety and well-being of passengers and the airport community are essential to Fraport Brasil. And in this time of pandemic, they have been given even more special attention. On May 26 and 27, Fortaleza Airport underwent a sanitization operation in the Passenger Terminal. The operation was carried out by around 50 soldiers from the Brazilian Army in order to disinfect check-in, departure and arrival halls, baggage conveyors, the food court and spaces used by federal agencies. The process lasted around 5 hours and was carried out in the early hours of the morning, from 11pm to 4am, as this is a time when there is a low flow of people, making it easier to carry out the action and apply the chemicals safely.
"We are doing our best and following all the guidelines of the health and regulatory bodies in order to offer a comfortable and suitable environment for passengers to circulate. At this point, we would like to thank the teams that have joined our efforts to take care of the Fortaleza Airport Passenger Terminal," says Andreea Pal, president of Fraport Brasil.
In addition to the usual cleaning and sanitizing routine, which has been intensified at this time, complementary actions have been taken by the airport operator since the beginning of the pandemic. Signs reinforcing the recommendations made by the Brazilian health authorities, such as the use of masks and safe distancing markers, have been posted, as well as audio and video alerts on the forms of prevention and symptoms of Covid-19 are being broadcast in the Terminal's media. Alcohol gel has also been made available in areas where people circulate a lot, a quarantine area has been organized for suspected cases, a medical post has been made available to deal with public health emergencies, and sanitary barriers - by measuring passengers' temperature on disembarkation - are being carried out in partnership with the Ceará State Health Department.
All these measures aim to offer a hygienic and well-signposted environment to help contain Covid-19 and support passengers so they can decide when to travel. Concern for health during air travel is a priority for the entire aviation industry. According to the National Civil Aviation Agency, every 3 minutes, 99.7% of the particles in the air circulating in aircraft cabins are filtered out. This so-called HEPA air filter system, present in the most modern aircraft, prevents the spread of Coronavirus during travel. For more information on traveling during the pandemic, passengers can consult the booklet produced by ANAC, which is available on the airport's website(https://fortaleza-airport.com.br).
